PSM, LLC is a startup company specializing in providing targeted mailing lists to businesses large and small.
As with any startup, PSM must control expenses and instead of spending capital funds on an office they have decided to harness the power of the Internet and become a truly “virtual” company.
PSM required a network (both local and wide-area) to allow all salesman across the country to place orders into their accounting system. This network needed to not only be “seamless” and easy-to-use, but needed to meet strict budget limitations both initially and ongoing.

Utilizing Cisco/Linksys technology, Crucial Networking created a Virtual Private Network with nodes across the country. Using their current broadband Internet connection each salesman is always connected to the “home office”. Crucial Networking installed a server using Linux, VMWare and Windows 2000 Server, allowing scalability and giving PSM the ability to harness both open source and the power of Microsoft Terminal Services technology.

Each salesman has seen a significant boost in productivity, now that they can concern themselves with making sales instead of figuring out how to get their orders to the “home office”. By entering their orders into the system directly instead of phoning or faxing them in, response times and order completion times have increased, increasing customer satisfaction.
